The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), jointly with Umm Al-Qura University, is organizing an experts’ meeting on laws and ethics of using the internet in scientific research. The event is taking place in Makkah Al-Mukarramah from 2 through 5 January 2012.
As well as developing a roadmap to tailor laws and ethics for scientific research carried out via the internet to the principles of Islamic Law, the meeting will review participant countries’ experiences on the matter, examine laws regarding the use of the internet and its systems to combat cybercrimes, identify tools to gear the internet to scientific research, and establish a draft regulatory framework thereto.
ial focus will be on the objectives and key points in the roadmap for scientific research, in order to set a future agenda toward scientific research development.
The experts will also explore various types of cybercrimes and identify countermeasures based on the precepts of Shariah. They will also discuss laws to govern the use of the internet in scientific research.
The meeting will be supervised by Dr Obaid Saif Al-Hajri, Director of ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah.
