The Islamic Body on Ethics of Science and Technology was created by virtue of the Recommendations of the First Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which was held under the theme « Towards Mechanisms of Implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Science and Technology in Islamic countries » (Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 15-18 October 2000); by virtue of the Resolution of the Ninth Islamic Summit Conference to the effect of adopting the Strategy (Doha, State of Qatar, 12-13 November 2000); by virtue of the Recommendations issued by the Consultative Council for the Implementation of the Strategy of Science and Technology during the two meetings which were convened respectively in Fez (24-25 September 2001) and Rabat (7-8 March 2003) in the Kingdom of Morocco, to the effect of establishing the Islamic Body on Ethics of Science and Technology; and also the Recommendations of the meeting of the experts' committee for the preparation of a Document on the establishment of the Islamic Body on Ethics of Science and Technology (Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, 14-15 July 2003). These Resolutions and Recommendations were adopted by the Second Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research (Tripoli, Libya, 6-9 September 2003) and the Tenth Islamic Summit Conference under number I5/10-2003/ST/DR-8/Rev.1 (Putrajaya, Malaysia, 16-22 October 2003).
